Maison de Racines is a project of DomRoots Suisse, a Geneva-based association. We are creating a supportive place to live for adults who, during an important period of life, need greater stability, structure, human connection and practical support.

Maison de Racines is for people of different ages and life circumstances. What they have in common is a need for a stable place to live, a manageable daily structure and the right level of human support.

Maison de Racines is designed to provide an environment that can support recovery. A stable home, regular meals, everyday structure, human connection, a steady routine and the gradual rebuilding of autonomy can all be important parts of that process.
Residents may also continue or access psychotherapy, addiction counselling, medical follow-up, support groups, social services, outpatient programmes and other specialised services. Depending on the future operating model, professional support may be provided by external services, partner organisations or appropriately qualified in-house professionals.

We discuss the person’s current circumstances, needs, independence and goals.
Before a final decision, a planned trial day and/or night can help the person experience the atmosphere, meet the team and see whether the environment feels right. It also gives both sides time to decide whether Maison de Racines is a good fit and what level of support may be helpful — without unnecessary pressure.
Together we clarify the right level of everyday and individual support, without creating unnecessary restrictions or dependence on Maison de Racines.
The first priority is a stable place, healthy routines, regular meals and a manageable daily rhythm.
The level of support can increase or decrease as the resident’s situation changes.
The goal is greater stability and autonomy and, where appropriate, social or professional reintegration.

For more than 20 years, my work has involved supporting people, organising everyday life and contributing to international projects, including cultural and wellbeing initiatives.
Maison de Racines grew from a simple observation: people can lose stability long before they need institutional care.
Sometimes what is missing is not another institution, but a stable home, a normal daily rhythm, practical help and people nearby.
